Happy to report on another fun ride today! We started a little earlier than normal to avoid the heat ( by 10 am, I had rode 40 miles). Our total miles today was just over 68. I am now in Huron, Ohio which is about center of the state, on the north border...a few miles from Lake Erie (and about 60 miles from Cleveland).
We had a chance to ride for awhile on one of the "rails to trails" bike paths today (which is a railroad track that is no longer in use and has now been paved for cyclist.). These trails are always so nice to ride (safe, away from vehicles and usually surrounded by nature). It was a really enjoyable part of the route today!
On another part of the ride today .....on one of the back country roads....I got a chance to meet a really sweet newlywed couple. They are riding their bikes in 50 states on a charity mission. Their goal is to spread "health and happiness through the gift of a bike". They work with two global organizations which give bikes to our wounded soldiers (a special bike for people who have lost limbs), to healthcare workers in 3rd-world countries, and to young girls in distant countries who need transportation to school. A very bright, and energetic couple -- check them out on giveABike.com (I'm making my donation as soon as I finish this blog!- hope you'll consider it too!). --- If this young couple survives this 50-state self-supported (aka: camping and carrying their own gear) 10 month trip....I think they'll stay together forever!
Not much else to report on today. Feeling strong....feeling sore (particularly in a 'special' part of my body).... Feeling inspired....and always feeling hungry!
Tomorrow we head for Cleveland via the shores of Lake Erie!
A couple of photos from today...
Adam and Christy Coppola...a great inspiration to 'pay it forward'....
Local cuisine......

So inspirational...gonna donate to that cool couple!
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the love.......
ReplyDeleteLake Erie should be beautiful. Easy does it.
Wow! How do you do it? My back hurts just sitting in a car on the way to work and it's only 3 miles. Just read yesterday in the USA Today International Edition, that this is the worst year ever for winds, floods, tornados, drought, fires, record highs, record lows and so on. How ironic that this is the year you are finally fullfilling one of your dreams. What a story you have to tell. How fun it must be to met others with the same dream with a completely different twist.
ReplyDeleteLook at them tan legs! That guy in the other pic has a great smile. Soo Proud of you J!
