Ride Day #4 - Riding with Gratitude

It was sort of a strange day today.......
As I got up and rode my bike....many, many people were dealing with the results of devastating tornados....
--- a good part of this morning's ride gave me a lot of time to reflect and renew my sense of gratitude and appreciation ( it's so crazy how in a matter of moments, one's life can totally be turned upside down---in a matter of moments all the small stuff we sweat....and all the things we take for granted can totally get into perspective).
Crazy but true.

Today we went thru some rrrrrreally small towns .....had lunch at a real 'local's" cafe called "Grub & Pub"..... Inside the cafe was one of those signs that you just have to take a photo of!

I'll make this short now as I must get sleep! -- tomorrow we do 106 miles...we're going from Milaca, MN to Stillwater, MN -- our route will take us into Wisconsin for a few miles...and then back into Minnesota.

Signing out now .....with a deeper sense of gratitude for all the goodness in my life...that includes YOU!

  1. What nothing to say? You must be beat. I'm sure your getting ready for your biggest day tomorrow 106 miles.

Your weather report for May 24:
Partly sunny, with a high near 67. East wind around 8 mph.

Have a great time and I hope your knees are doing good. Give us an update on them when you can.

  2. I told you I'd love reading your blog JJ, so keep 'em coming!

PS...LOVE the sign!! In such a small town, I wonder if every resident has a bounced check on the wall...is it a status symbol?

PSS...thanks for sharing your thoughts about gratitude...it's a great reminder to be thankful for everyone and everything we hold near and dear :)

  3. Yes, a moment to stop and think. CNN just show totally flatten and destroyed town of Joplin, MO. 116 people in just that one town alone, died in just seconds because of the tornado. The edge of the “watch” area is just a few miles from where you are. Should have taken the southern tier bike ride option from Rio Rica, Arizona to Chihuahua, Mexico. But then I guess that would be just like taking a bike ride on Harbor Blvd. Which by the way…. Isn’t there a Pub and Grub on the corner of Harbor and 19th? There are no checking accounts here in DK and no one crazy enough to pay 6,000 bucks to ride a bike in torrential down pours to see such club members. But by the look on your face in all your pix, I can see you are having a great time. When you get to Stillwater, look for an outdoor garden supply store. I think it’s near the Bikery Shop It’s were Jens bought the windmill that Grandma had in her yard.
