Ride Day #5 --- Problem / Solution....

Today was a GREAT day ( in spite of the wind -- but I'm no longer complaining about weather!!!)
I rode 110.7 miles today (even though the route was only 106 miles....my riding partners and I got lost for a couple of miles (not a good time to get lost...no one wants to put extra miles on an already 100+ mile day--- but...it happens).

I quickly partnered up with two gals who have the same riding style/speed as I do....
We rode the entire route together...it was a lot of work...a lot of sweat, a lot of hills...
But overall ALOT OF FUN!!

At about mile 85 I had a big problem....my legs were running out of gas. I needed a solution (One can only eat so many 'Power Bars')...... I looked to my right....ah ha...my solution!!! (see photo)

The photo with the river in the background is the St. Croix River we crossed on our way into Wisconsin . The other photo is me with my riding partners in front of a beautiful Lilac tree (there are zillions of Lilac trees in full bloom right now - mile after mile the fragrance in the air was so intoxicating).

Tomorrow is a 'rest day' --- no riding...we'll let our bodies recover...the riders will take time to enjoy the quaint little town of Stillwater....except me......I'll be returning the tractor.

  2. If the weather is nice head to Lowell Park - nice views of the river and a great relaxing place to rest up for your next adventure. Love Stillwater, well I ought to since I'm from there. Unfortuantely I think you got there too early for "Lumberjack Day's", but your ride back to the farm on that tractor will take you to places you've only been able to dream of. Just make sure when you talk to folks there you really enunciate your "O's"....they'll think your a local!! Loving your blog! Be Safe JJ.

  3. Julie and Jay got married on the St. Croix River on one of the river boats. Try lunch at The Dock overlooking the river - great view! Wish we could be there. Be safe - you have my greatest respect! Sending peace and love for a wonderful ride! Luvya, Dee

  4. Wait! I don’t get it. What’s the solution? I’m guessing you mean you jumped in the river. Great pix. So funny on the tractor. Don’t try to pedal that, though. It’ll really do a number on your knees. The scent of the Lilac is truly a gift from god. Wouldn’t it have been great to have hammocks hanging in the trees as your overnight destination? Check out The Bikery Shop at 904 4th St. South. It’s a bakery and a bike shop in one. Less than a quarter mile from the river and near St.Michaels and Triangle Park.
So glad to hear you found riding partners. Enjoy your free day.
