Ride Day #2 - Lesson of the day......

Lesson of the day.....BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ASK FOR!

Remember yesterday when I wrote " I would rather have pouring down rain vs wind".....
Well.....today was 'Mother Nature' testing me with that!

We did 59 miles today and the first 25 miles the rain rrrrreally came down on us! But, the good news is the wind was not nearly as crazy as yesterday!

That said, it was really an enjoyable day (( but I have to admit....I didn't really see the first 25 miles. Why? Because I left my freakn rain/weather eye glasses in my garage drawer....in Costa Mesa-- so....there I was......head down.....staring at the back tire of the gal in front of me for miles and miles 'cause the rain was pelting down in my eyes!

When the rain eased up a bit...I was able to lift my head as i rode.....I saw the beautiful rolling hills....the beautiful country farms...the beautiful horses in pastures. Really lovely, gentle country views. Minnesota IS green, green, green (we know they get rain!)

About my photos.....We started the day in Pelican Falls (their 'claim to fame is a 15' pelican....We had lunch in Ottertown(a one-restaurant town -- "Betty's Diner"......We're getting some 'small town' culture!

On more thing to share....I was riding along..... this "experience/seasoned" (aka: 67 year old) gal whizzed by me (she's one of the fastest riders) and offered me this advice....
"The higher the gear...the quicker to the beer!!"

  1. Jeanette,

Don't drink the beer, it will take you down

    the wrong road.

  2. Oh man J! Headwinds are the worst and I would rather deal with rain than wind. Not so sure I would want that to happen the day immediately following a windy day though! Good for you for hanging in there! Sorry about the glasses! Love, Gerri

  3. Your weather report for tomorrow...same as
    today :(

Sunday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 68. South southwest wind between 9 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

I would say to stop at the nearest bike store and pick up some rain glasses.

    Love to you.

  4. Oh mi! Day 2 and lessons already. Just be glad it wasn't hail. Have tried that too - that's why we got a car. Have also been passed several times by ladies in their 70's - not kidding. After leaving P. Falls and on your way to lunch, did you or any of the other gals ever say: "We 'Otter' be there by now"? Now you know why MN is 'Land of 10,000 Lakes' and how they keep them filled. Watch out for pot holes; it's also the gopher state.

  5. Wish we could be there to cheer you on when you get to Stillwater ( not far from our house) but we're in Colorado for Luke's 3rd birthday. Know that we're there in spirit and with much love and admiration for you. Sending positive energy for good weather and good health!!

  6. Funny.... I remember when we would ride by the ocean, the cold would hurt my ears and give me a headache. But I still loved riding with you.

    Love you, mean it,

    Jennice
